Mourning Glory

Frankfurt Am Pulled into a city on a Thursday night, A star-crossed heart, a star-crossed light, Never second-guessed about taking a bite… One flight of stairs, deep underground, That’s where I met you, that’s where I found you. Spit in the hand and I’ll chase you around tonight. Cuz tonight, We’ll pour it on the stage, The passion and the rage, Running with the wolves. And in moonlight, We’re bleeding with the stars. The lives we’ve lived in bars, Are coming back to howl. And they chase us down, drag us to the ground. I’m bleeding out, I need a tourniquet. I’m fading fast, but I ain’t dead yet. I can’t believe we only fucking met tonight. A harmless bite, but it cut me deep. The wolves have taken all the rotten sheep. And we don’t ever wanna fall asleep tonight. Cuz tonight, We sing up to the moon, Of Johnny and June, Running with the wolves. And in moonlight, We’re bleeding with the stars. The lives we’ve lived in bars, Are coming back to howl. And they chase us down, drag us to the ground. So come on now baby, let me see your soul. We’ll raise a middle finger playing rock n’ roll. We’ll dance ’til the beat falls way too slow, Then we’ll do it all over again. Forget all the questions, forget all the whys, Forget who they said we’re supposed to be like tonight. Let’s live like tomorrow is the day that we die, Cuz we’re only gonna live again, Cuz it’s not over, it’s only just begun! Outside Vinnie’s place, while Susi tended bar, We fell in love with the night, outside, Beneath the stars, I watched you shine. And as the morning neared, the night had laid me bare and with a wild toss of your hair, and on a Frankfurt Am morning you walked on air. It really stings, it fucking smarts, A bloody trail of broken hearts, But we still know how to play the part of anyone. The sun comes up, man, the time really flew, And daylight means I’ll say goodbye to you. My hands in my pocket wondering what to do. So I curse the sun. And tonight, The distance to your heart, Is tearing me apart, Running with the wolves. And in moonlight, We’re bleeding with the stars. The lives we spent in bars, Are coming back to howl.

Mourning Glory We spent our innocence on bikes at war, with neighbor kids armed with stick shaped swords, but... We could own the block, if we could hold the yard. Then adolescence and rebellion met, fell in love sharing boredom and cigarettes, And we could own the world, if we could leave the yard. And the years kept stealing days, while the nights wept sweet refrains... Still I’m mourning glory In bedtime stories As yesterdays offer ghosts up to the grave. And a life less boring Left Pan to his snoring, As the crocodile shed tears for childhood’s end... Where we start again. Rolled my 20’s down a slippery slope, Clinging onto every shred of hope, I had On down the rabbit hole, on down the road. Tried to find just where the sidewalk ends, Left the skeletons at home with friends, while I... left my sins on shoulders of road. And the years kept stealing days, While the nights wept sweet refrains... Still I’m mourning glory In bedtime stories Let yesterdays offer toasts up from the grave. And this life less boring Left this old man snoring, As the fairytale raised a glass to childhood’s end... Where we start again. And diaries and journals found their place atop the music, every hurdle, every journey, every misstep, we could use it... And while glory fades to black and white in the dreams of kids, on starry nights, it’s never shined a brighter hopeful light than it did when we were soldiers in the yard... And while roads less traveled were often gravel, We made our case, gave mob the gavel, cause this was life, and we would not lose it...not yet anyway. We’d choose to watch the glory fade, as youth lost its war with time and age, but soldiers never were so brave as when they made their great escape out of the yard... Still I’m mourning glory With bedtime stories We’ll wake each new tomorrow from the grave Living life less boring, For death or glory As troubadours en route to childhood’s end... Where we start again.

Six Hearts On Fire If you’ve got the heart, then take a shot at drinking in the sun, Chewing up the moonlight, while soaking up the fun I’ve been dining off the royalties from starving for a little art So paint a crowded mural on the pages of this song Erase the fickle memories, that have surely lingered long And let six wounded souls warm their hands on the fire of each heart Whoa, what’ve we got to lose? Whoa, so what do you choose? If it’s immortality you seek, Well the prospect’s pretty bleak But you can live beneath the hopes If you’ve got promises to keep To yourself, to your “family,” to your heart, To the beat... Just beat the drums, play your heart, make it family, let it bleed The lunacy of unity gives comfort to the strange And the asylum’s lonely inmates just lobotomized their brains, So kickstart the wanderlusters’ hearts with the “Shock and Awe” of dreams Now the train once bound for nowhere found an engineer who could Said I think I can, know who I am, amongst friends I understood So stoke the fire, we’ll ride the rails of accidental serendipity Whoa, what’ve we got to lose? Whoa, so what do we choose? If it’s immortality you seek, Well the prospect’s pretty bleak But you can live beneath the hopes If you’ve got promises to keep To yourself, to your “family,” to your heart, To the beat... Just beat the drums, play your heart, make it family, let it bleed I did it wrong a little long Lost the melody in song And I dined on my defeats Amongst the friends where I belonged And when it hurt, we sang on, if it moved, we moved along So here’s to Natch, here’s to Clint, Disaster, Chels, and Rob. Whoa... These are the friends that remain Whoa... Six hearts like a moth to a flame Whoa... These are the friends that remain Whoa... Six hearts that beat true for the strange If it’s immortality you seek, Well the prospect’s pretty bleak But you can live beneath the hopes If you’ve got promises to keep To yourself, to your “family,” to your heart, To the beat... Just beat the drums, play your heart, make it family, let it bleed I did it wrong a little long Lost the melody in song And I dined on my defeats Amongst the friends where I belonged And when it hurt, we sang on, if it moved, we moved along So here’s to Natch, here’s to Clint, to Disaster, Chels, and Rob.

No Horse Town For the freaks and geeks and the sinners To the small town hoods we remember Forged a friendship, forged in truth Learned the words from the sounds of our idols with Bad Religion in a busted Eldorado Searching for gold, losing our youth Give us...somewhere...else...to pass the time Take us...somewhere...else...before we die Cause the lights went down On our no-horse town And two friends felt a yearning and a call from a city without (history or rust) So the King and I Waved a brief goodbye From a truck packed with everything, adorned with signs that read, (“Austin or bust!”) Found a scene, but the shit got chaotic, But old souls and my own were symbiotic Til forks in the road, diverged in sound I took the left and he took the other Left the nest, but we never left a brother. In for a penny, in for a pound... Give us...somewhere...else...to pass the time. Take us...somewhere...else...before we die. Then the lights went out On our one-horse town While we basked in the beautiful poverty of rock n roll...(Klinck and I) And the King and I, Waved a brief goodbye To the songs and the friendships that would carve us both a soul (on wood and wire) And the lights went down On a no-horse town And we knew we had to find another city or song to help...(shed this skin) So the King and I, Looked for peace of mind On a mic, on the road, on a tight wire, begging...(to begin again) Wave goodbye, to our youth, Wave hello to the truth, That the oldest friends we’ve still got, haven’t yet escaped the coop So we keep on, like times gone by On garage apartment stereos where we used to pass the times... The King and I.

Southpaw 04:13
Southpaw I've been hiding ‘neath the fallout of my hope since this November, I’ve been riding horses in the hills to get myself away. If I've ever felt this lonely in my life I can't remember, And never did I think that so much hate would now hold sway. The sun still rises brightly in the eastern skies at morning. But its shadows now seem darker and stretch longer ‘cross the way. And history's lessons learned now seem to scream a dire warning, But no one seems to pay it any mind now anyway. Well, the six-gun’s firing blanks, Trigger-finger’s got the shakes, Somebody spoon-feed me a bullet before I find a soul to save, And the well that once quenched hopeful hearts dried up Election Day... We’ve never needed love more than today. The LGBTQ community is labeled sinners And racism's apparent like the Emperor's new clothes. And all I feel is loss when I look at the nation's winners. Who self-congratulate themselves by feasting with the crows. I can't believe we still fight for the equal rights of women. I can't believe there's arguments for putting guns in schools. This fighting's got us drowning when we all should just keep swimming, And ride the tide onto our land we've wrested from the fools. Well, the right hand’s firing blanks, While the left’s still got the shakes, Somebody throw the fucking towel in before I find a soul to save, And the well that once quenched hopeful hearts dried up Election Day... We’ve never needed love more than today. Oh, my America, from sea to shining sea. If ever there was one who nursed a broken heart from you, it's me. The war machine moves faster than the servers down at Twitter. We send the poor to battle while the rich protect their thrones. And our leaders take our goodwill and they shove it in the shitter And flush it down with smoking rubble cratered by the drones. Well I know down here in Texas I may be labeled a “Lefty”. But I'm even hearing Austinites affect a hawkish tone. If being a liberal bleeding heart's about love and connection, Then why the hell in heaven's name do I feel so all alone? Well, the six-gun’s firing blanks, Trigger-finger’s got the shakes, Somebody spoon-feed me a bullet before I find a soul to save, And the well that once quenched hopeful hearts dried up Election Day... We’ve never needed love more than today.

Unbreakable 03:04
Unbreakable Lady Liberty’s left the isle. Freedom’s Mona Lisa smile, Is swimming back to the old world, Where her torch might again burn. And as the king dines on the souls, Of opposition to the throne. He licks his lips and cries alone, In the new emperor’s clothes. For the left-behinds, For the last in lines, For the ones this reign will not anesthetize. (We won’t break!) For the first to die, For a soldier’s pride, For the peaceful serf who now schemes regicide. (We won’t break!) Protect the scarecrows who make slaves, With tiki torchlit hate parades A hoodless Klan won’t be replaced, When whitewashed houses plead their case... And as the king dines on the souls, Of opposition to the throne. And as he licks his lips alone, The civil war is marching home. For the left-behinds, For the last in lines, For the ones this reign will not anesthetize. (We won’t break!) For the first to die, For a soldier’s pride, For the peaceful serf who now schemes regicide. (We won’t break!) All the battle lines are drawn, And we’ll be knights amongst the pawns, Two steps backwards, one across, Mate the crown, no matter cost... For the left-behinds, For the last in lines, For the ones this reign will not anesthetize. (We won’t break!) For the first to die, For a soldier’s pride, For the peaceful serf who now schemes regicide. (We won’t break!) (We won’t break!) (We won’t break!) For this jester’s royal tea, we will not break! (We won’t break!) (We won’t break!) From sea to shining sea, we will not break!

Featherfist 03:51
Featherfist Welcome to the dawn of a nation state. An ascent hard-won with toil. More than sun beats down on a weary back, Fettered blood in a Southern soil. But the songs in the night on an old guitar, Sang of Exodus following a Northern Star. Freedom found a way in a “railway car”. And the nights incensed with rage. Red, White, and Blue with Stars and Bars. We built this Commonwealth on scars. Insomnia laments Original Sin. Cuz once you’re woke, you’ll never fall asleep again. With a fist like a feather, man, we don’t need no underground… Fist like a feather, man, we don’t need no underground… Welcome to the changing of the guard, Postulate to no avail. All the guns in the world don’t mean a thing, When the hands that hold them fail. And the songs played out to the setting sun, A defiant middle finger to the Chosen Ones. When the Red Sea falls, your time is done. Then we’ll write a brand new page. Red, White, and Blue with Stripes and Stars. Hard lessons learned from hard-earned scars. The Sleepless Ones won’t need a browbeating to win. Cuz once you’re woke, you’ll never fall asleep again. With a fist like a feather, man, we don’t need no underground… Fist like a feather, man, we don’t need no underground… Fist like a feather…

The One 02:32
The One Well, it’s been years, but it won’t stop coming... The well of tears keeps the engine humming... But inspiration hurts, As thoughts turn into words, I’m finding penance for my past transgressions... As I dance around my last confession... I loved you til it hurt, But whatever it’s worth... I’m not the one. But you were mine for a time while the world authored our smiles I was yours for a while until you changed the dial... And a new song crept itself into your heart While an old one lost itself in tired art And I couldn’t sing along... So memory’s offered fickle friendship, A nickel paid every time I bend it To soothe a diary’s hurt, With misremembered words, And the mirror’s cruelly ending friendships, While cracks reveal the unhappy ending... I aged amongst the words, As we both lost our worth... I’m not the one. But you were mine while time authored our smiles I was yours for a while until you changed the dial... And a new song crept into your heart While an old one lost itself in tired art And I couldn’t sing along... But you were mine while time authored our smiles I was yours for a while until you changed the dial... And a new song crept into your heart While an old one lost itself in tired art And I couldn’t sing along... Without lyric to the song... As they urged us to move on... But you were the one.

A Blessing & A Curse She’s got tattoos just to prove that she’s been hurt. And she rations out biography to those worthy to serve. A warrior woman decked in armor for protection from the dregs, Those souls who took for granted that her heart was without legs. Well watch her run, Wild and free of “only ones!” Watch her bloom, In the middle of the room. She’s nothing short of poetry, meted out in verse, She feels like both. A blessing and a curse. Well, she forever flirts in riddles, we’re never meant to solve, And she bathes in independence, while she measures her resolve. Still likes to hang out with the boys, but she loves sleeping alone, Dreaming free of tired shackles chained to suitors of the throne. Well watch her run, Wild and free of “only ones!” Watch her bloom, In the middle of the room. She’s nothing short of poetry, meted out in verse, She feels like both. A blessing and a curse. So weigh and measure hearts you rebel souls. Because this patient-run asylum’ll have you running for the door. And she’ll break you down to molecules dispersed into her sky, Where stars and dreams and wishes go…go to cry Well watch her run, Wild and free of “only ones!” Watch her bloom, In the middle of the room. She’s nothing short of poetry, meted out in verse, She feels like both. A blessing and a curse.

By Art or Design So the world’s turned to shit, And you’ve had enough of it, Because you believed we were better than our fathers’ sins but here we sit. So grab yourself a pencil, or a brush, or a song, Write your conscience, paint a protest, sing a march, I’ll sing along. And we’ll find a place for the left behind who struggle to belong and we’ll sing on. Here we go… Forth. Let daydreams pull heartstrings as the rest all go numb, Let nightmares remind us that we will not succumb To the apathy proffered by the deaf and the dumb, Cause when we stand together, we can overcome! All the backward-thinking bullshit that stymies the mind, All the alt-right propaganda dressed in red and white stripes. And we’ll wish upon the stars embroidered right there beside, For change to the narrative, by art or design. So you found yourself a voice, Spoke up when it had no choice, And with friends it would grow louder, With a power, for tipping points... And your brushes painted rainbows in the streets across the walks, You made music for the voiceless; this is now; this is punk rock. You found a place for the left behind who struggled to belong and you sang on. Here we go… Forth. Let daydreams pull heartstrings as the rest all go numb, Let nightmares remind us that we will not succumb To the apathy proffered by the deaf and the dumb, Cause when we stand together, we can overcome! All the backward-thinking bullshit that stymies the mind, All the gerrymandered cheaters decked in red and white stripes, With flags pinned to lapels as they strip away our rights. Let’s change the fucking narrative, by art or design. And when all hope seems lost along with veritas, Finds you wondering what selling a soul even costs. Let daydreams pull heartstrings as the rest all go numb, Let nightmares remind us that we will not succumb To the apathy proffered by the deaf and the dumb, Cause when we stand together, we can overcome! All the backward-thinking bullshit that stymies the mind, All the homophobic racists decked in red and white stripes. We’ll wish upon the stars embroidered right there beside, For change to the narrative, by art or by design.

Shields & Colors I got my shields on, I got my colors too, And I'm counting the days 'til I get back to you. We’ll take the road on, one show at a time, Two bucks in the jar, leaving the world behind. Rewind it back to the days when we were new. ‘Let’s Go!’ playing on the “Radio,” where “I...I fell in love with you.” It had a soul, had a heart, beat imperfect from the start, but it felt like home. So, I got a band, found a crew, lost the weight of losing you, With some songs of our own. Sunglasses and denim vests, A lifer’s armor to save what’s left. I got my shields on, I got my colors too, Old sins in the rearview, good friends, and a tune. To soothe the hard times, one song at a time, Two thousand miles trying to leave the world behind. We trace our fingers round the window to our souls. Chase what lingers, with the sound and the fury of growing old. But the nights we spent singing at the very top floor of, of our lungs. On a stage, in the van, with my friends, with the fam, with a band, on the run. Sunglasses and denim vests, A lifer’s armor to save what’s left. I got my shields on, I got my colors too, And I'm counting the days 'til I get back to you. We’ll take the road on, one show at a time, Two bucks in the jar, leaving the world behind. We all, we all, we all turn shades of grey, We get lost, we get sold, wouldn’t have it any other way... I got my shields on, I got my colors too, And I'm counting the days 'til I get back to you. We’ll take the road on, one show at a time, Two bucks in the jar, leaving the world behind. I got my shields on, I got my colors too, Old sins in the rearview, good friends, and a tune. And when the sad songs, get too hard to sing, I got a family to sing on, got a patch, we got a thing.

Love to All 04:39
Love To All Well, I'm trying to be a grownup; all my posters are in frames, Decorative disguises for the dirt of better days. Well, sweet Hyperbole, meet memory, it's never what it seemed, But love to you, love me. Well, I miss the ‘Hotel Flanagan,’ "Hey Buddy, Bar…” the gates, Chasing tiki bar shenanigans to add to halls of shame, But the cold nights in Chicago always warmed me all the same, Well, love to you, love me. Let’s raise one for those coronated nights in paper crowns! If that sun comes up tomorrow, I swear I'll shoot it down, Because all these scarry nights and lilted life only visit in the eves. Well, let’s slow it down together, love to you, love me. And Boston offered brotherhood, while Liz endured the nights, Of “One Hand Revolutions,” while Marc set Steve on fire. But "far from finished" friendships brought beer balls to the fight, Love to you, love me. Found Linskey sleighing dragons out on the open road. Well, he swears he lives in Jersey but I've never seen him home. Singing union songs of protest for those who toil to breathe, Love to you, love me. Let’s raise one for those coronated nights in paper crowns! If that sun comes up tomorrow, I swear I'll shoot it down, Because all these scarry nights and lilted life only visit in the eves. Let’s slow it down together, love to you, love me. And the west coast showed its Gonzo with a heart of punk rock props, Sipped Coronas in Pomona, while London called the cops. He had a punch dagger on the toilet when bands would play the shop, Love to you, love me. And Morgan joined the army knowing he was shipping off to war. He was older than the rest of most but younger than his scars. And Lind gave us the world, while Andre poured the shots, Love to you, love me. Let’s raise one for those coronated nights in paper crowns! If that sun comes up tomorrow, I swear I'll shoot it down, Because all these scarry nights and lilted life only visit in the eves. Let’s slow it down together, love to you, love me. My love to you all…Love, me.

The Hideout 04:33
The Hideout Last night’s dreaming took its toll, Woke up screaming, searching, for coffee and a soul. And all the lights we bathed in bars, Forgot the nights and explanations for these scars. But on we go, to the next show, Tattoo the memories, so we don’t forget the stench of coming home. So sing it hard, but sing it well... Ride it out between motels On a highway hiding out from God Sing it all before we fall, between head and heart a wall... Fill this glass, so we can drown them all... Last night’s demons made their beds, Woke up screaming migraines, sheets drenched in regret. And all the life we bathed in bars, Held a wake for gypsy wishes that burned-out stars. But on we go, to the next show, Tattoo the memories, so we don’t forget the stench of coming home. So sing it hard, but sing it well... Ride it out between motels On a highway hiding out from God Sing it all before we fall, between head and heart a wall... Fill this glass, so I can drown it all On this highway hiding out, Hiding out from God.

This Ship Can Float On Hope Well, all in all, I’d say it’s all been better than it’s been worse, So I left my port of call in search of memories to rehearse, And the border gates and dividing lines were postcards left ashore. So we chased the wind in vessels setting sail to somewhere new, Without captain, without master, without compass, without crew, And the albatross was the first one to know. This ship can float on hope. So give me peace upon the waves, where nothing is sure, but broken dreams, Where ivory towers offer rubble to the sea, That ravages the harbor, Well, a pirate’s life for me, Cause the lighthouses lost power when six souls ceased to believe, They had a home. And the albatross has been heavy, but we wore him ‘round our necks, The voyage has been rocky, but this ship is not shipwrecked, It’s just battle-worn, by the passing storms, that try to fill the hull But friendship’s still a constant, and morale is holding fast, Let the gods all damn the ship, while we forget about our pasts, And the albatross just made up his mind.

Tattooed Sunshine You drop your fang into my vein and the pain is dulled by a sweetness. My heart beats faster just to push that crimson flow. Somewhere, back there I lost myself and I don’t know how to retrieve it. I just don’t care. I just can’t stop. It’s time to go. I may be wrong. This may be right to start again. I’ve got you in my blood. I’m high on tattooed sunshine. I just can’t get enough. I’ve got you in my blood, yeah. I just can’t kick the habit. I may be dying but I’m doing fine. I’ve got you in my blood. I’ve got you in my blood. My heart’s been weakened by this weekend warrior attitude. I locked myself away and left myself for dead. But I overdosed on oxytocin and the thought of you. Tattooed this ink into the pages bleeding red. I may be wrong, this may be right to sing again. I’ve got you in my blood. I’m high on tattooed sunshine. I just can’t get enough. I’ve got you in my blood, yeah. I just can’t kick the habit. I may be dying but I’m doing fine. I’ve got you in my blood. I’ve got you in my blood.

Forever Blue 03:23
Forever Blue Chain me to the anchor of my shame, Then drown me in the river of complacency and blame, Where I’ll sink beneath the rocks of desperation but remain, Forever blue. Tell me, I’m the worst day of your life, Call me the poisoned apple on its way to kiss Snow White. But we can write a different ending where the hero never dies, Forever blue. So we can watch it all disappear into the blaze, Warm our hands on bridges torn down, used as tinder for the flame. Toss salt upon this scorched earth while we wander through the rain, Forever blue. You’ll find me in my corner of the room, Where records spin like lovers dancing circles 'round my tomb. Just fill the painter’s palette brush the canvas of this heart, Forever blue. I make my way on friendships and guitars. I’ve traded in the fairytales for freak shows at the bar. Just stumbling through the wreckage, sipping beers and counting scars, Forever blue. So we can watch it all disappear into the blaze, Warm our hands on bridges torn down, used as tinder for the flame. Toss salt upon this scorched earth while we wander through the rain, Forever blue. I don’t know how the pieces once fit, Together we chased forever in circles. I don’t know when always turned to, Never again, before you know it, It’s gone! Chain me to the anchor of my shame... So we can watch it all disappear into the blaze, Warm our hands on bridges torn down, used as tinder for the flame. Toss salt upon this scorched earth while we wander through the rain, Forever blue.

La Frontera 02:59
La Frontera This fallen republic is overrun with rats. We’re all alone, we’re all alone. As faith finally falters to altars and flags. We’re all alone, we’re all alone. The powers that be have been paid for and bought, As empowered populists police our thoughts. And history’s lessons and battles once fought, Now lessen the plans and the lessons once taught. So bend, don’t break, ‘fore faith betrays us all. For heaven’s stake, we will forsake our fall. This tattered rag was once a flag, While geese step in unison, The flock paints it black. This battered state capitulates, As sheep march in unison, The flock’s hope abates. Assure all the tourists our borders are safe. We’re all alone, we’re all alone. As purists rejoice that the eagle is caged. We’re all alone, we’re all alone. We separate children according to law, In concentrated camps until we can build that wall. ¡Sus hijos son victimas politicas! Sus padres lloran la perdida de paz. So bend, don’t break, ‘fore faith betrays us all. For heaven’s stake, we will forsake our fall. This tattered ragv was once a flag, While geese step in unison, The flock paints it black. This battered state capitulates, As sheep march in unison, The flock’s hope abates. And hopeless kids, offer bids, American citizen-ship-out the orphans. But not before, they abhor, The stars and the stripes that they once thought would harbor us all. Give us peace, or give us hate, Give us something that you cannot erase. Pick your talking points, but pick a side, Proverbial gun’s no longer waiting for a sign, So aim it well, and fire true, Or coalesce to the ideals you eschew, Give up decency, give up right. Give up morality for lionless pride. Well, you’ve got minutemen, but we’ve got acumen, Prosaic history is written for the champions, Belief in progress, belief in redress, Belief the franchised will make a stand for progress. So take your place and pick a side, Time for rhetoric and action to collide. This tattered rag was once a flag, While geese step in unison, The flock paints it black. This battered state capitulates, As sheep march in unison The flock’s hope abates. And hopeless kids, offer bids, American citizen-ship-out the orphans. But not before, they abhor, The stars and the stripes that they once thought would harbor us all.

Leap of Faith Lend me your ears, all you lambs on your way to meet ends. As heart-songs hum death knells, the shepherd starves flocks he attends. And we all...all fall down. The prince has survived and his hate groups supply the demand. Paint a Machiavellian failure’s blood on our hands. While we all...all fall down. And it all falls down for the good of none. We all saw it coming, “Here’s to kingdom come!” Our thoughts and our prayers have just thoughtfully crowned us a clown. We all fall down. Bring me the head of your gods so I might pick their brains. The mad king is angry while his Twitter feeds diners the inane. And we all...all fall down. And the racist kettledrum wakes the deafened and the numb. Are we pleased? With Christian politicians whose god brings the meek to their knees. While we all...all fall down. And it all falls down for the good of none. We all saw it coming, “Here’s to kingdom come!” Our thoughts and our prayers have just thoughtfully crowned us a clown. We all fall down. With Puritan values, us pious just pissed on our faith (Heed the call, Enjoy the Fall!) While prophets of falsehoods sell snake oil and false flags to raise... (We all fall down.) And we all...all fall down. And it all falls down for the good of none. We all saw it coming, “Here’s to kingdom come!” Our thoughts and our prayers have just thoughtfully crowned us a clown. We all fall down. With a leap of faith, We sealed our fate. In pearly gates, Forged in hate.

J.P. Magic 06:35
JP Magic We smoked butts beneath a sky on the 4th day of July, You said, “I love you” in a smoke-filled breath of Marlboro Lights. And the fireworks were nice but as the smoke clears, so do wives, But I wished upon finales that the end would spare tonight. But that’s when the ‘Magic’ went, that’s when Disaster hit. We were anything but innocent but it was nothing short of extraordinary. Memories now self-aware left me to gasp for air, And then lonely tried to kill me slow but I knew these tears were only temporary. So I asked Natch if we could fly, between my crying eyes, And he said, “Let’s just play a sad song off The Sound of ’59.” “And does your guitar have a name? ‘Cause no two are the same,” Then we christened her ‘Sweet Jennifer,’ an ocean’s stage away. And Natch would roll The Stones while Dylan knocked the bones, And we sang “Always and Forever” while Clint re-tracked the “Whoas”, And Chelsea brought a song, while Rob would bang a gong, On a 26-inch kick drum with an anchor stickered on. But that’s when the ‘Magic’ went, that’s when Disaster hit. We were anything but innocent but it was nothing short of extraordinary. Memories now self-aware left me to gasp for air, And then lonely tried to kill me slow but I knew these tears were only temporary. And I asked Natch if we could fly, between the lows and highs, As I wrote and drank and smoked every damn thing I could find. “So, does your hurt still have a name? ‘Cause no two are the same.” And then we christened her ‘Sweet Jennifer,’ put metaphor away. But that’s when the ‘Magic’ went, that’s when Disaster hit. We were anything but innocent but it was nothing short of extraordinary. Memories now self-aware left me to gasp for air, And then lonely tried to kill me slow but I knew these tears were only temporary. And I asked Natch if we could fly, underneath the weight of lights, And he said, ”Play a song with Jennifer on your way back to life.” “And does your heart still have a name? ‘Cause no two are the same.” Then we christened it ‘Sweet Nowherebound’, watched anchors float away. And we kept looking for nowhere. I kept wishing you were there, ‘cause there was magic in the air. Beautiful beyond compare. And I kept wishing you were there, ‘cause there was magic in the air.

about

Nowherebound’s sixth studio album, “Mourning Glory”, was an ambitious return to the DIY ethos the band was founded upon. A double album, this record showcases the prolific songwriting and expansive diverse spectrum of “punk rock” Nowherebound encompasses.

The album consists of all-new music but it plays like a greatest hits album already.
